content

The song is about a little boy whose parents go to a show and therefore take him to see his grandparents. There they eat supper, although he has trouble chewing his meat. His grandmother then tells him not to complain, but to ride a bike outside, injuring his toe. In the chorus, the boy repeatedly asks his grandma to take him home because he wants to be alone. Ultimately, he falls asleep in front of the television and wakes up in his mother's arms.

production

The lyrics of the song were written by Kurt Cobain . The production was taken over by the music producer Jack Endino .

Music video

To promote the Incesticide compilation , a music video for Sliver was released in 1993 , directed by Kevin Kerslake. It was filmed in Cobain's former parents' house within a day and shows the three musicians playing the song in a small, dark room, the walls of which are hung with posters. Kurt Cobain aggressively sings the text into the camera and throws a rag doll across the room. Some scenes show his then one year old daughter Francis Bean Cobain.
