The single Come as You Are was released on March 2, 1992. In addition to the album version of the song, the single contains the title Endless, Nameless and live recordings of the songs School and Drain You , which were recorded on the occasion of a concert on October 31, 1991 at the Paramount Theater in Seattle . Endless, Nameless is a hidden track at the end of Something in the Way on Nevermind , as is Drain You as an album version. School was released on the debut album Bleach .

Video

The music video shows in different storylines first the performance of the song by Nirvana, then Kurt Cobain swinging on a chandelier, as well as various individual images and scenes (e.g. a revolver, a fertilization and the scene from which the cover of Nevermind was probably created , namely a baby swimming after a dollar bill on a fishing rod).

controversy

After the song was released, there was an argument with the English postpunk band Killing Joke . This claimed the main riff of the song came from her single Eighties . According to various reports, the band did not go to court after the death of Kurt Cobain or the case was dismissed before the trial.

Aberdeen

Place name sign at the entrance to Aberdeen (2007)

Aberdeen , Kurt Cobain's hometown, changed its name on town signs in 2005. Since then, travelers have been greeted with the slogan "Welcome to Aberdeen - Come As You Are". This goes back to an initiative of the Kurt Cobain Memorial Committee , which wants to create a memorial park and a youth center in the city. This is seen by some as bitter irony, as Cobain expressed his dislike of the city all his life.
