This discography is an overview of the musical works of the American grunge - band Nirvana . According to sources and record awards, they have sold more than 80.5 million records in their careers, making them one of the most successful bands of all time . In their home country alone , according to the record awards , they sold over 33 million records. The most successful release of Nirvana is the second studio album Nevermind with around 30 million units sold. In Germany the group was able to sell more than 1.5 million records. Nevermind alone has sold over a million times in this country, making it one of the best-selling music albums in Germany .
