Hormoaning is an EP by the US rock band Nirvana . It was released on February 5, 1992 on the Geffen Records label exclusively in Australia and Japan.

Four of the songs on the EP are cover versions of songs by other artists. Turnaround comes from the new wave band Devo , while D-7 is a cover from the punk band Wipers . The original pieces Son of a Gun and Molly's Lips are from the British rock band The Vaselines . The four songs were recorded during a session with British DJ John Peel on October 21, 1990. The other two tracks, Aneurysm and Even in His Youth , were previously released as B-sides on the single for Smells Like Teen Spirit .

The songs Turnaround , Aneurysm , Son of a Gun and Molly's Lips appeared a little later on the compilation Incesticide .

Cover design

The EP cover of the Australian version shows the three band members sitting or standing in and on a bathtub and looking at the viewer. At the top left are the lettering Nirvana in red and Hormoaning in blue, while the note Exclusive Australian '92 Tour EP is in black at the bottom right . The cover of the Japanese version is adorned with the dark blue lettering Nirvana and Hormoaning on a light blue background.

Chart successes

The EP entered the Australian album charts at number 2 on February 9, 1992 and stayed in the charts for four weeks. In Japan the EP reached rank 67.
