Son Ho-sung (born November 23, 1982 in Seoul ) is a former South Korean ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach , who last played until 2016 for the Anyang Halla team in the Asia League Ice Hockey . Since 2016 he has been working as a goalkeeping coach at his ex-club and in the South Korean national team.
Career
Son Ho-sung began his career in the Posung team, for which he played in the South Korean ice hockey league. From 2004 to 2007 he played for Kangwon Land, initially also in the South Korean league and from 2005 in the Asia League ice hockey . With the team he won the Korea Domestic Championship in 2006 and 2007 . He then moved to Anyang Halla , where he - with a two-year career break - played until his retirement in 2016. With Anyang Halla he won the Asia League Ice Hockey in 2010 and 2016.
He then switched to the coaching staff of his ex-club and also looked after the national team at the World Cup of Division IA 2017 as an assistant.
International
On an international level, Son Ho-sung represented his home country in the junior division at the U18 World Cup in 2000 in Asia-Oceania Division 1.
For the men's selection of South Korea , he first took part in the 2002 World Cup in Division I. After the relegation suffered there, he played in 2003 , 2005 , 2006 when he achieved the best conceded goal of the tournament, and in 2007 , when he again had the best conceded goal, and in 2009 , when he again had the best conceded goal and the second best catch rate behind the Belgian Björn Steijlen was also chosen as the best goalkeeper of the tournament, in Division II. In 2008 and 2014 , however, he played again in Division I. In addition, he represented his colors at the Winter Asian Games 2007 , when the bronze medal was won behind Japan and Kazakhstan .
