Soon-Tek Oh (born June 29, 1932 in Mokpo , Japanese Empire - † April 4, 2018 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor .

Life

Soon-Tek Oh attended school in Gwangju and studied at Yonsei University in Seoul before immigrating to the United States in 1959. He then studied at the University of Southern California and UCLA before graduating from the Neighborhood Playhouse with an acting degree. He played in the play Rashomon on Broadway from 1964 and made his debut in two smaller roles in the television series Tennis Rackets and Cannons in 1965 . Although he was of Korean descent, he often played Japanese characters. His work includes more than 100 film and television productions.

He became known to a wider audience for his role as Inspector Hip alongside Roger Moore in the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun . He died in April 2018 after a long illness.
