Spertendorf is a district of the municipality of Kirchberg in Tyrol with around 700 inhabitants. It is located northwest of today's village center. It is the oldest settlement in the municipality of Kirchberg.

history

The name Sperten, which means something like place at the Tannenbach , is of Illyrian-Celtic origin and comes from the younger Bronze Age (1100 - 900 BC). The first inhabitants were Illyrians . The Tannenbach was probably today's Aschauer Ache , on whose banks there were fir trees , but it could also have been a smaller river (e.g. Schleicherbach ). More detailed historical geographic information cannot be found about it.

In 1241 Sperten is first mentioned under Chirchperg . In 1333 one speaks of the "community and common all parishioners of Sperten". This was understood to mean today's municipality, but there was not yet any major settlement on the Kirchberge. In a document one found the information about a "Gut zu Lackhen", what kind of trade fair foundation was bought. Back then there was only the village of Sperten with a few houses and inhabitants.

In 1332 a church of St. Michael was mentioned on the Chirchperg, in 1357 a church in Sperten was called again. The terms Kirchberg and Sperten therefore often alternated. In 1478 and 1481 one finally found the name "Sperten unterm Kirchberg".

geography

The Sperten district is located directly on the Brixental - Leukental valley watershed at around 835 m above sea level. To the west of the village the Schleicherbach flows towards Brixen im Thale , to the east of it the Sonnberggraben flows, which flows in the opposite direction and feeds the Aschauer Ache . This valley watershed is one of the three valleys ( Sölllandl , Wildschönau and Brixental ) that is very difficult to explain. The valley lines run from west to east, but the rivers break through the previous mountain ranges and now drain to the north. Furthermore, the Brixental falls entirely into the slate of the Grauwackenzone from Kirchberg to Hopfgarten . Tectonics may play a bigger role here. The Triaskalke on the Gaisberg are also very noticeable. In addition, the rock of the slate zones is very easy to remove and can be easily ground by water. Ultimately, the glaciers also contributed to the formation of the valley. Originally the Brixentaler Ache would flow in the direction of Kirchberg in Tirol , via Reith bei Kitzbühel , Going to St. Johann , as the branch of the glacier drained northwards from the Hohe Tauern . In addition, a glacier advance from the Windau around 15,000 years ago dammed the Brixentaler Ache, so that it fed the Aschauer Ache in Kirchberg . A closer examination showed, however, that the settlement of Kirchberg impaired and formed the valley watershed.

Economy and Infrastructure

Agriculture continues to play a major role in Spertendorf . There are also some hotels , guest houses , restaurants and handicraft businesses here .
