The Roman Catholic Kuratiekirche St. Jakobus the Elder and St. Katharina is the church of Üchtelhausen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . The church is one of the monuments of Üchtelhausen and is registered under the number D-6-78-186-2 in the Bavarian list of monuments . Like Ebertshausen , Hesselbach , Hoppachshof and Reichmannshausen, Üchtelhausen is part of the Schweinfurt Rhön parish community .

history

Üchtelhausen originally belonged to the parish of Schonungen and was parish changed to Hausen in 1683 . The establishment of the local chaplaincy (later then curate) Üchtelhausen took place in 1869. A church in the village was first mentioned in 1520. The core of the church tower is medieval. The old part of today's church was built in 1687. The new building was built in 1985. At the same time, the church tower was statically secured.

description

The old part of the church consists of a nave with three window axes ( pointed arched windows) and the eastern church tower . Its basement was the choir of the old church. The nave has a flat roof, the choir, on the other hand, has a groin vault. The new church building with the roof visible from the inside is separated by round arches in the southern wall of the old nave.

Furnishing

The high altar , which Poppenhausen acquired in 1750 , and the two side altars in the old part of the church have two columns. The pulpit with angel sputtles was created in 1772 by Paulus Zehr from Bad Königshofen . The old organ is on the western gallery . The font from 1571 stands in the transition area from the old to the new church. The interior of the new church is mainly the work of the local sculptor Peter Vollert. The stained glass windows St. Katharina and St. Jakobus the Elder next to the arched wall were painted by the Würzburg painter Curd Lessig . A wooden Virgin Mary by Otto Sonnleitner comes from the old church, as well as the Stations of the Cross by Johann Peter Herrlein from 1783 . The gallery with the new organ is located above the arched wall between the old and the new church.
