The village church of St. Johannes is in the local road 4 of Dreitzsch , a municipality in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia . The Dreitzsch parish belongs to the Pillingsdorf parish of the Schleiz parish .

history

The place consisted in the late 16th century of a village in the northwest with a choir tower church from the 14th century and an estate with a chapel southeast of it. Both parts grew together over time. Remains of the enclosure have been preserved from the manor house . The church in the village was enlarged in 1627 and given a baroque interior in 1703 . As part of a renovation , a triumphal arch was drawn in from 1910-12 . The church was last restored in 1991/92 .

description

Built as a fortified church hall church with its square bell tower and its octagonal tower is plastered and has painted cornerstones . The nave is covered with a hipped gable roof with bat dormers on top of each other , the tower is crowned by a hood on which a lantern with a pointed tent roof sits. The oldest piece of equipment is the bell, cast in 1513 by the bell founder Markus Rosenberger, with the inscription "O Jesus, King of Glory, come with peace, whom you are always praised, and O St. John, pray for us".

The interior has a flat ceiling with side coves . Scenes from the New Testament are depicted on the ceiling . There are single-storey galleries on 4 sides. In the galleries, scenes from the Old Testament are added in medallions and rectangular fields. The patron's box is located on the northern gallery . On the east gallery is a square overhang with a polygonal pulpit supported by four palm trees. The parapets are integrated into the overall design of the room. The uniform baroque interior from 1703 has been completely preserved. The color scheme of the walls, carried out during the renovation in 1912, corresponds to Art Nouveau.

The organ on the western gallery with a manual , a pedal and 9 stops was also built in 1703 by the Schleiz-based organ builder David Mercker and its basic structure (prospectus, action and wind chests) has been preserved to this day. Organ builder Schmidt from Gaberndorf rearranged it in 1866; it was restored in 2013 by Frank Peiter from Pockau-Lengefeld . She also received a new winch.
