description

The main parts of the hall church were built from rubble stones in place of a chapel in 1685 . Its round tower , which was initially re-used , was replaced in 1835 by the new construction of the church tower in the west, separated from the nave . The church has a recessed, three-sided choir in the east. The tower has a double-curved hood on which a lantern sits. In the south there is a faceted, drilled portal with a segmental arched gable , above which there is a statue of Mary .

The interior of the nave and the choir are covered with a plastered , wooden barrel vault. The main altar was built between 1699 and 1701 by Andreas Gräber and Johann Maerten from Heiligenstadt. The tabernacle is from 1883. The lower altarpiece from 1782 shows a crucifix , the upper one shows the birth of Mary . In between is the Electoral Mainz coat of arms . To the side, between twisted columns , there are wooden statues of St. Martin and St. Boniface . A side altar from the beginning of the 18th century has a wooden Madonna from around 1500.

The pulpit was built in 1695. Two oil paintings from the early 18th century show St. Cyriac and St. Benedict. On the north wall of the tower there are carved figures of three female saints from the end of the 15th century. A wooden Pietà comes from the same period. The carved figure of St. Nicholas is from 1656. The stained glass windows in the nave with St. Joseph and St. Elisabeth were made by Oidtmann stained glass in 1952 , while the windows in the choir and tower are from the Gräfe company from Mühlhausen. The monstrance , the censer and the chalice are silverwork from Augsburg from the 2nd half of the 18th century.

The organ with 22 registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built by Jehmlich Orgelbau in 1968 .

Renovations took place from 1960 to 1962, 1973/1974, 1984 and 1992.
