Stefan Hachul
Stefan Hachul (born June 20, 1973 in Kerpen ; † February 19, 2012 in Cologne ) was a German triathlete .
Career
Stefan Hachel studied at the University of Cologne and obtained his doctorate in 2005 at the Institute for Computer Science. He started for the PSV Bonn club and later for the Riederau PZM team . In triathlon, he took part in competitions on the short, medium and long distance. At the end of the 1990s he was a member of the DTU national team .
He won the Trans Vorarlberg Triathlon (3 km swimming, 120 km cycling and 15 km running) three times in Austria in the long distance (1994, 1996, 1997). Two of his greatest sporting successes were 18th place at the world championship on the long distance in Sweden and three months later 24th place at Ironman Hawaii in 1999.
He died in 2012 at the age of 38 after a serious illness.
