Steffen Wick (born November 17, 1981 in Herne ) is a German composer , pianist and singer .

Career

Steffen Wick studied composition with Caspar Johannes Walter, music theory, piano and new media at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart . He then deepened his composition studies in the master class with Moritz Eggert at the University of Music and Theater in Munich .

Steffen Wick's concert works range from large ensembles ( Womb for symphony orchestra) to chamber music ( Inner Monologue for vocal quartet, commissioned by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation ) to exotic compositions ( Transborder for Korean gayageum and European instruments). His works have been performed at the Bregenz Festival, the Wiener Musikverein , Radialsystem V and Konzerthaus Berlin and by ensembles such as the Basel Sinfonietta , the Henschel Quartet , the Eight Cellists of the Vienna Symphony, the State Philharmonic of Rhineland-Palatinate and the Philharmonic Orchestra in Cottbus, Freiburg and Gießen interpreted. CD recordings of his works have been released by Sony Classical and Universal Music .

At the center of Steffen Wick's compositional work are full-length, interdisciplinary concert projects at the interface between music and other art forms such as video, scenography , dance and theater .
