The Steinbach is a brook in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen , which flows from the right into the Loisach at the Schögger am Rain area of the municipality of Bichl after a roughly 12 km long north-western course with its main upper course Murnerbach .

geography

Murnerbach near the Baumköpflalm

Upper Murnerbach

The Steinbach arises in the Kocheler Mountains south above the Dudlalm in the municipality of Wackersberg in a basin between Moosenbergkopf in the west and Kesselkopf in the east, where a cluster of spring brooks rise to 1043  m above sea level. NHN combined to the upper reaches of Murnerbach . The source furthest from the mouth rises at approx. 1160  m above sea level. NHN about 200 meters east of the Neulandhütte on the saddle between Moosenbergkopf and Längenberg . The Murnerbach flows north-north-west, initially one after the other close to the Dudlalm, the Baumköpflalm and the Lexenhütte of the community past through a mat landscape, the "Murnau" (= Moorau) with interspersed forest, then about north through the mountain forest.

In the Murnau area, it takes in a longer tributary from the southwest of the Sattelalm, in the forest section then one from the west, whose spring branches arise in the fan between Vogelkopf and Buchenauer Kopf , shortly afterwards from Hochtannenkopf ( 1180  m above sea level ) in the east-northeast the first not very small right. After a run of about 4.1 km the Lehenbauernalm flows about 0.6 km southwest of the right and at about 888  m above sea level. NHN the only 1.1 km long and poor catchment area Wischetsgraben , it changes over the municipality border to Bichl , from here the stream is called Steinbach .

course

The Steinbach flows meandering for the greater part of its course and continues west-northwest in the forest of the Kochel Mountains between the mountain ridges sloping in the same direction with the main elevations Buchenauer Kopf on the left ( 1225  m above sea level ) and Zwieselberg on the right ( 1348  m above sea level ). After about 0.2 km it leaves the Wackersberg municipality and is now the border stream between the municipalities of Benediktbeuern on the left and Bichl on the right bank, then this municipality border gives way to the left slope. In this section of the course the Steinbach takes on numerous tributaries, some of which are finely feathered.

Towards the end of this, in the already flatter, widening valley floor opposite the Hollerkopf ( 930  m above sea level ) and under the desert of Straßberg from Benediktbeuern, the Dorfbach turns left , which then turns away from the Steinbachlauf at the Bichler hamlet Hofstätt and in the wide valley floor on the right the Loisach runs west-northwest through Bichl and flows into the river after a run of 5.4 km above the Steinbach itself. The Steinbach, on the other hand, runs through the plains from Hofstätt to the north-north-west, mostly a little beyond the municipal boundary to Bad Heilbrunn , and flows into the lower Loisach about 3.9 km down from the water separation from the right at the Bichler Einöde Schögger am Rain .

The creek bed of the Steinbach is built with numerous rubble barriers. The Steinbach flows, after a total course of 12.6 km in length with an average bed gradient of 45 ‰, approximately below the source of its upper course Murnerbach furthest from the mouth.

Catchment area

Of the 17.2 km² catchment area of the Steinbach, over 90% lie in the predominantly wooded mountain landscape of the Kochel Mountains , a northern spur of the Bavarian Prealps between the Loisach and Isar rivers that meet in front of it . Accordingly, the hydrologically most important watershed of the Steinbach catchment area draining to the Loisach is the eastern to the Isar. Arzbach , (Wackersberg- Arzbacher !) Lainbach and ( Wackersberg- Arzbacher !) Run behind the border from Längenberg ( 1244  m above sea level ) over the Hochtannenkopf ( 1180  m above sea level ) to the highest point of the catchment area on the Zwieselberg ( 1348  m above sea level ) . Wackersberg- Steinbacher !) Steinbach north-east or east to this. The northern border at Zwieselberg separates from the catchment areas of Stallauer Bach , Schellenbach and Kaltenbach , which run down the Steinbach to the Loisach.

In the area of the lower reaches in the Loisach valley level, the catchment area is only a narrow tube around the body of water moving north-northeast here, the only significant left-hand competitor in this lowland is the Dorfbach, which it itself derives .

Behind the still missing southwestern watershed, which climbs the western slope of the Kochel Mountains from Benediktbeuern- Strassberg, the Aschbach competes in the ascent to the Windpässelkopf ( 1146  m above sea level ) , then behind the ridge of this western spur over the Buchenauer Kopf ( 1225  m above sea level) . NHN ), the Vogelkopf ( 1210  m above sea level ), the Sattelkopf ( 1202  m above sea level ), the Moosbergkopf ( 1244  m above sea level ) back to the Längenberg the (Benediktbeuerner!) Lainbach with its from the sections Sattelbach and Kotlaine existing right upper lift ; Aschbach like this Lainbach are tributaries of the upward Loisach.
