Stephan Wilhelm (born July 12, 1983 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a former German ice hockey player who was active at SC Riessersee for many years . He also played for Moskitos Essen , Straubing Tigers , Schwenninger Wild Wings and Hannover Scorpions .

Career

Wilhelm played at home SC Riessersee since childhood . After playing in all youth teams, the defender managed to establish himself there in the DNL team. In 2001, Wilhelm made the leap into the professional team of SC Riessersee, which was playing in the 2nd Bundesliga at that time . For the 2003/04 season , the defender moved to EC Peiting in the Oberliga Süd , where he received a license for the Nuremberg Ice Tigers , but was not used in the DEL. After a year in Peiting, the left-handed shooter signed a contract with Mosquitos Essen in 2004 . For the mosquitoes, Wilhelm was on the ice in the 2nd Bundesliga for two years before moving to Wolfsburg in 2006. With the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg , the defender became champions of the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2006/07 season , after which the Grizzly Adams rose to the German Ice Hockey League . However, Wilhelm was not active for Wolfsburg in the highest German ice hockey league, since he moved to the Straubing Tigers in 2007 . After four seasons, the defender moved to the Hannover Scorpions after the 2010/11 season .

In April 2018, Wilhelm ended his career after 389 games in the DEL and almost 500 games in the second-highest division.
