Stjepan I. Krešimirović († 1058 ) was the king of the medieval Croatian kingdom from 1030 until his death .

He came from the Trpimirović dynasty and followed his father Krešimir III. on the throne.

Like his predecessors, he expanded his sphere of influence on the eastern Adriatic . He focused on rebuilding Croatian military power and sent most of his fleet in support of the Byzantines during the war against the Arabs . Stjepan hoped through this Croatian-Byzantine alliance to prevent the Republic of Venice from attacking the Croatian coast.

Trade and handicrafts flourished under Stjepan I. Major aristocrats moved to Zadar , Biograd , Knin , Split , Dubrovnik and other coastal cities. At the same time, the cities in Slavonia grew . In particular along the Sava , many people moved further north in search of arable land. The two largest cities at that time were Zagreb and Sisak .

He was succeeded by his son Petar Krešimir IV in 1058 .
