Sven Kuntze

Sven Ingolf Kuntze (born May 29, 1942 in Strasbourg ) is a German journalist and television presenter .

Life

Kuntze studied sociology , psychology and history . From 1983 he was employed by ARD. His first job there was in what was then the capital city studio in Bonn . In 1990 he went to New York with his partner Doris Köpf , where he worked as a correspondent for ARD . Their daughter was born there in 1991. Doris Köpf married the then Prime Minister of Lower Saxony and later Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder in 1997 .

From 1994 to 1999, Kuntze moderated the ARD morning magazine with Peter Großmann and Inka Schneider . There was also an acting role in the scene of Bildersturm .

Kuntze accompanied his partner Schneider to Washington, DC , where she worked as an ARD correspondent from 2001 to 2004. From July 2004 until his retirement on May 31, 2007, Kuntze worked as a WDR correspondent for the ARD capital studio in Berlin.

As part of the ARD theme week on demographic change from April 20 to 26, 2008, Kuntze shot the report Alt sein auf Probe , in which he reports on his experiences in an old people's home into which he had moved for seven weeks. For this, Kuntze was awarded the German Television Prize in 2008 in the "Best Report" category. Sven Kuntze was nominated for the journalist award Golden Prometheus 2009 .

In the theme week 2009 It's a matter of honor for volunteering in Germany, Kuntze was again the main character in a documentary Being good on probation - an egoist gets involved . In 2010 he received the Catholic Media Prize for the film together with co-authors Gesine Enwaldt and Ravi Karmalker from Archbishop Robert Zollitsch , the chairman of the German Bishops' Conference .

In 2013 Sven Kuntze was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, after the surgical removal of which he suffered partial facial paralysis.

He is married to the journalist Inka Schneider , wedding in New York.
