Symposium of the Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar
The Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECEAM) , Eng .: Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM / SECAM) is the Continental Association of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and their coordinating body of the Roman Catholic dioceses .
history
The SECAM / SCEAM was created after Vaticanum II. (1962-1965) and was founded in 1968 with the first visit of a Pope to Africa by Pope Paul VI. officially established in Kampala . The SECEAM includes the national bishops 'conferences, the ten regional bishops' conferences and the assemblies of Catholic dignitaries of the oriental rite in Africa. The seat of the secretariat is in Accra , Ghana.
The chairman since 2019 is Philippe Cardinal Ouédraogo , Archbishop of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso; The Secretary General is Terwase Henry Akaabiam .
