The former synagogue in Dertingen , a district of Wertheim in the Main-Tauber district , was built around 1814 and existed until 1925.

history

In 1814 the former Dertingen synagogue was built. It was in use there until 1925. Files on the building history can no longer be found. Because the number of Jewish citizens in Dertingen was on the downturn, the synagogue was closed and acquired by the community in 1926. The synagogue was then converted into a school for agricultural education for boys and a cooking school for girls. From 1942, however, the building served as a retirement home for the Tauberbischofsheim district until it was converted into a residential building in 1945, which is still there today. At times, the post office for the town was also located there on the ground floor.

location

The synagogue was located at Oberen Straße 23 in Dertingen, which was then connected to a slaughterhouse and a ritual bath. However, both are no longer available today and are currently used as a parking lot.
