Tânia Ferreira da Silva (born December 17, 1986 ) is a Brazilian long and triple jumper who occasionally competes in the sprint .

Athletic career

Tânia da Silva gained her first international experience at the South American Youth Championships in Asunción in 2002 , where she took sixth place in the 100-meter run in 12.65 s and with the Brazilian 4-by-100-meter relay in 47.3 s won the gold medal. She also won the silver medal in the sprint relay (1000 meters) in 2: 14.55 minutes. In the following year she was fourth in the long jump at the Junior South American Championships in Guayaquil with 5.55 m. In 2004 she won the bronze medal in the long and triple jump at the U23 South American Championships in Barquisimeto with 6.05 m and 12.78 m respectively. In the latter discipline she took part in the Junior World Championships in Grosseto , but was eliminated there with 12.84 m in the qualification. At the Pan American Junior Championships in Windsor she won the silver medal in the triple jump with 13.38 m and was fourth in the long jump with 6.04 m. Then she won the triple jump with 13.31 m at the Junior South American Championships in Rosario and won the silver medal behind her compatriot Eliane Martins with 6.14 m . In 2006 she surprisingly won the South American Championships in Tunja with 13.92 m and then also in the long and triple jump at the Jogos da Lusofonia in Macau . She then won the U23 South American Championships in Buenos Aires with 13.42 m gold in the triple jump and 6.05 m silver in the long jump.

In 2007 she qualified in the triple jump for the World Championships in Osaka , where she was eliminated with 13.81 m in the preliminary round, as well as at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia the following year with 13.03 m. In 2009 she won the bronze medal at the South American Championships in Lima with 13.38 m behind the Colombians Caterine Ibargüen and Verónica Davis from Venezuela. Then she also won the bronze medal at the Jogos da Lusofonia in Lisbon with 13.23 m. In 2010 she was at the Ibero-American Championships in San Fernando with 13.30 m fifth and two years later in Barquisimeto fourth with 13.08 m. In 2014 she won the bronze medal at the championships in São Paulo with 13.47 m. The following year, she won the silver medal in the long jump at the South American Championships in Lima with 6.37 m behind Peruvian Paola Mautino and with 13.60 m behind her compatriot Keila Costa also in the triple jump. In addition, she qualified in the long jump for the World Championships in Beijing , where she did not reach the final with 6.18 m .

In 2016 she was fifth at the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro with 13.31 m and at the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas , she was eliminated with the Brazilian 4 x 100 meter relay in the first round. In the triple jump she took part in the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated from the qualification with a width of 13.74 m .

In 2006 da Silva was Brazilian triple jump champion and in 2012 with the 4 x 100 meter relay.
