Eliane Martins (born May 26, 1986 in Joinville ) is a Brazilian long jumper .

Athletic career

Eliane Martins gained her first international experience at the Junior South American Championships 2005 in Rosario , where she won the gold medal with 6.41 m. Two years later she took part in the World Championships in Osaka and was eliminated there with 6.28 m in qualification. In 2008 she won the silver medal at the Ibero-American Championships in Iqique with 6.20 m and then won the U23 South American Championships in Lima with 6.11 m . In 2010 she qualified for the World Indoor Championships in Doha , in which she failed to make a valid attempt in the preliminary round. In June she won the bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships in San Fernando with 6.17 m. Two years later she won the championships in Barquisimeto with 6.55 m . In 2013 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Kazan , but also retired there with 5.97 m in qualification and in 2014 she won the bronze medal at the Ibero-American Championships in São Paulo with a width of 6.31 m. At the Pan-American Games in Toronto she was tenth with 6.40 m and also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , in which she did not succeed in the preliminary round , as well as at the World Indoor Championships in Portland the following year. She then won the Ibero-American Championships in Rio de Janeiro with 6.52 m and took part in the Olympic Games there, where she was eliminated with 6.33 m in qualification .

The following year she won the South American Championships in Luque with 6.51 m and was eleventh in the final at the World Championships in London with a width of 6.52 m . In 2018 she won the silver medal at the South American Games in Cochabamba with 6.66 m behind the equally wide Peruvian Paola Mautino . She also won the silver medal at the subsequent Ibero-American Championships in Trujillo with 6.66 m. In 2019 Martins successfully defended her 2017 title at the South American Championships in Lima with 6.71 m and then took part in the Pan American Games there, where she only came in tenth place with 6.19 m. She also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where she was eliminated with 6.5 m in qualification . Then she won the bronze medal behind the French Hilary Kpatcha and Maryse Luzolo from Germany at the World Military Games in Wuhan with a width of 6.39 m . In 2020 she won the bronze medal behind the Panamanian Natalie Aranda and Aries Sánchez from Venezuela at the first indoor South American Championships in Cochabamba with 6.44 m .

In 2012 as well as in 2017, 2018 and 2019 Martins became the Brazilian champion in the long jump.
