Taillebois is a village and a former French commune with 150 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Orne department in the Normandy region . It belonged to the canton of Athis-de-l'Orne and the Arrondissement of Argentan .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the previous communes of Athis-de-l'Orne , Bréel , La Carneille , Notre-Dame-du-Rocher , Ronfeugerai , Ségrie-Fontaine , Taillebois and Les Tourailles became a nouvelle commune with the name Athis -Val de Rouvre and have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Athis-de-l'Orne.

geography

Taillebois is located eleven kilometers northeast of Flers and the Rouvre flows through it. It is located in the heart of Norman Switzerland . The former municipal area with an area of ​​5.51 km² consists largely of cultivated land, 83 hectares are forest.

etymology

The community is named after the nobleman Yves de Taillebois .

Economy and tourism

Most of the employees from Taillebois work in the Flers or Condé centers . Agriculture predominates in the local economy, and there are six farms in the village. There are also a few smaller shops and a café.

The landscape is suitable for hiking and mountain biking, the Rouvre is very popular with white water enthusiasts.
