Takatoshi Abe ( Japanese 安 部 孝 駿 ; born November 12, 1991 in Okayama ) is a Japanese hurdler who specializes in the 400 meter distance .

Athletic career

Takatoshi Abe gained his first international experience at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he won the silver medal behind Jehue Gordon from Trinidad and Tobago in 49.46 seconds . In addition, he finished fifth with the Japanese 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 07.94 min. The following year he won the Asian Championships in Kobe in 49.64 s and then reached the semifinals at the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen . In addition, he won the silver medal behind the team from Russia in 3: 05.16 min. He also qualified for the World Championships in Daegu , where he was eliminated with 51.90 s in the run. Two years later he qualified again for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated again with 51.41 s in the first round.

In 2017 he took part again in the World Championships in London , where he reached the semi-finals this time and was eliminated there with 49.93 s. The following year he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and won the bronze medal there in 49.12 seconds behind the Katari Abderrahman Samba and Ayyasamy Dharun from India. He also won bronze in the relay in 3: 01.94 min. Shortly afterwards, he was sixth in the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava in 49.80 s. In 2017 and 2019 Abe became the Japanese champion in the 400-meter hurdles. He graduated from Chukyo University .
