The Tao He ( Chinese 洮河 , Pinyin Táo Hé ), also called the Tao River , is one of the most important tributaries on the upper reaches of the Yellow River ( Huang He ) in the southwest of the Chinese province of Gansu , according to Wei He .
Its source is in the Xiqing Shan Mountains ( 西 傾 山 / 西 倾 山 ) in Henan Autonomous County of the Mongols in the south of the Huangnan Autonomous District of the Tibetans in the Chinese province of Qinghai in the border area of Gansu and Qinghai.
With the rivers Lu Qu ( ཀླུ་ ཆུ ། ); Guangtong He ( 廣 通河 / 广 通河 ), Dayu He ( 大 峪河 ) and Zhuke He ( 朱 可 河 ) are part of the river network of Gansu ( 甘肅 / 甘肃 ). It flows into the Liujiaxia Dam in Yongjing County . With a length of 673 km, Tao He is the third longest river Gansu.
Various Neolithic and Bronze Age cultures were widespread in its catchment area (see Majiayao culture , Banshan Machang culture , Siwa culture , Xindian culture , Qijia culture , Tangwang culture ). The Tao He was mentioned in the historical Shuijing zhu on waters of the Northern Wis .
