Siwa culture
The Siwa culture ( Chinese 寺 洼 文化 , Pinyin Sìwā Wénhuà , English Siwa Culture ) was a Bronze Age culture in the area of Gansu Province , China. It was first discovered in Siwashan寺 洼 山, in Lintao临洮 县 (Gansu) County, hence its name.
The Siwa culture was mainly spread in the area of the upper reaches of the Tao He洮河River . Clay jugs with saddle-shaped openings ( 马鞍 口 陶罐 , ma'ankou taoguan ) are one of their main characteristics, bronze artifacts are already appearing.
The Siwa culture dates from approx. 1400–1100 BC. Dated. Possibly the cultures of the Di ( 氐 , Dī ) and Qiang ( 羌 , Qiāng ) peoples go back to them.
The site of Siwa ( 寺 洼 遗址 , Siwa yizhi , English Siwa site ) has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (6-204) since 2006 .
