Out of control is a TV movie from the crime series Tatort of ARD , the ORF and SRF . The film was produced by MDR under the direction of Olaf Kreinsen and first broadcast on May 11, 2003. It is the crime scene episode 532. For the chief detective Bruno Ehrlicher and his colleague Kain , it is the eleventh case that they investigate in Leipzig .
action
The homeless Eddi Löser is found drowned on the banks of the Pleiße . The forensic doctor determines a very high alcohol level and concludes that he was drowning through his own fault, possibly including suicide. Cain has doubts because he knew solvers. He went to school with him and knows that he hated sport in any form. So he would never have gone swimming voluntarily. Cain also knows Löser's ex-wife. When he and Ehrlicher visit her, he finds it strange that her new boyfriend is patrol officer Frank Lohner and that he found the dead first. He is known for rigorously trying to keep “his” neighborhood clean and for not liking the homeless at all.
Ehrlicher and Kain get a first clue from a landlord who allegedly called the police because he felt harassed by Löser. The check of the connection leads to the pharmacist Dr. Muhlberg. However, the officials cannot make any sense of this. However, they have the impression that he, too, is very interested in keeping the district “clean”. It looks like he has even teamed up with other traders to form a kind of vigilante group. It is very likely that they also include a group of “half-strength” young people with the pharmacist's son Mario Mühlberg as their leader. Ehrlicher and Kain can get one of these guys to make a confession. Lukas admits to have received a call from the landlord of the riverside restaurant to chase the bum (looser) out of the neighborhood. He had forced Löser to go into the water, but then drove away again.
The commissioners always think Frank Lohner is the main mastermind, but the real "head" soon reveals to them. When Cain accidentally falls into the hands of the group of young people in a drunken state, they beat him up because they think he is a bum. When they see their mistake, they even want to silence Cain. While Mario Mühlberg lets the inspector roll into the Pleiße in an unconscious state, Lukas cannot see this injustice and saves the inspector. It is clear to Cain that Mühlberg is also responsible for Eddi Löser's death.

criticism
Rainer Tittelbach from tittelbach.tv considers this crime scene to be a “well-made crime scene.” He writes: “A quarter, a topic, a lot of emotion and a grand finale - 'Out of Control' has become a densely narrated crime thriller that hits many Levels of excitement promise. Moderately modern told by Olaf Kreinsen and consistently cast with actors such as Oliver Stritzel, Anne-Marie Bubke or Maximilian Pfaff. "
Despite the good audience rating, the critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm only rated the film as mediocre and believe that “the 'crime scene' is raising its forefinger a little too theatrically against vigilante groups that are disgusted with politics.” Conclusion: “Leipzig monotony - bland and too hard.
