The Techantinger Mittagskogel , also Truppekogel , Trupejevo poldne in Slovenian , is a summit of the Karawanken , between Villach in the Carinthian Drautal and the Slovenian Kranjska Gora in the Sava Dolnika valley .

Location and landscape

The summit is in the West Karawanken (Mittagskogel group), south of the exit of the Gailtal and Faaker See , directly on the Austrian-Slovenian border, in the municipality of Finkenstein am Faaker See , Villach-Land and Kranjska Gora districts .

Surname

Like many other Karawanken peaks , the mountain is a twelve o'clock pointing mountain , it got its name from the village Techanting . His other name refers to the homestead troop / Trupej , south of Techanting. Slovenian poldne also means 'noon [sberg]'.

Occasionally a neighboring summit, the Graischza / Grajsca ( 1690  m ), is also called under the name that is closer to Techanting.

geology

The entire main ridge of the Karawanken from the Techantinger- and Mallestiger Mittagskogel to the Schwarzkogel is made of Schlern dolomite , so that in this ridge section , rugged pinnacle shapes reminiscent of the Dolomites predominate.

Landslide 2010

The summit is 1931  m above sea level. A. stated. Between August 14 and 17, 2010, a rock fall occurred after a strong thunderstorm with lightning . About 300 cubic meters of rock fell off the north side, tearing the summit cross with it for about 250 meters. The summit zone is now extremely unsafe and the current height of the mountain has not been measured.
