Edward "Teddy" Purcell (born September 8, 1985 in St. John’s , Newfoundland ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has had free agent status since July 2018 and has played 599 games for the Los Angeles Kings , Tampa Bay Lightning , Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers played in the National Hockey League on the right winger position .
Career
Teddy Purcell began his career as a hockey player with the Notre Dame Hounds, for which he was active in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in the 2003/04 season . After two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League , the attacker played for the University of Maine team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association in the 2006/07 season .
Purcell, who never drafted was when it was on 27 April 2007 a free agent by the Los Angeles Kings committed for which he in the 2007/08 season a total of three points scorer, including a goal in ten games in the National Hockey League scoring . However, he spent most of the season with their farm team , the Manchester Monarchs from the American Hockey League , for which he posted 83 scorer points, including 25 goals, in 67 games. This made him the player with the third highest scorer points in the AHL. In the 2008/09 season Purcell was in 38 games in which he reached 38 scorer points for the Monarchs in the AHL on the ice, and in 40 games in which he scored 16 scorer points for the Kings in the NHL.
Purcell started the 2009/10 season with the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL and scored three goals in 41 games. Furthermore, he gave three assists and collected six points. On March 3, 2010, he went to the Tampa Bay Lightning and Jeff Halpern to the Kings. By the end of the season, he scored three goals and provided six assists in 19 games for the Lightning.
In June 2014, the Lightning Purcell exchanged for Sam Gagner of the Edmonton Oilers .
In February 2016, Purcell moved to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a third-round vote in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft . There Purcell ended the season and then returned as a free agent to the Los Angeles Kings. There, his expiring contract was not extended after the 2016/17 season.
Between October 2017 and May 2018 he was under contract with HK Awangard Omsk from the Continental Hockey League and played 28 KHL games for them.
