As a result of the regional reform of 2006, the district community of Valle dell'Adige was dissolved. The four new valley communities Cembra, Paganella , Rotaliana-Königsberg and Valle dei Laghi were created on the territory of the former local authority . The state capital Trento and the municipalities of Aldeno, Cimone and Garniga Terme, which also belong to the district community of Valle d'Adige, were not assigned to any valley community and formed an intermunicipal administrative cooperation in 2012. The functions previously exercised by the district community were partially taken over by the four communities, which they carry out in coordination with the other communities such as school funding, welfare and welfare, public and subsidized housing construction and development planning. In contrast to the valley communities, the administrative cooperation has neither a common administrative headquarters nor its own administrative apparatus.

Protected areas

In the area of administrative cooperation there are eight Natura 2000 protected areas and five other communal biotopes .
