Continental competitions

In the newly formed AFC Champions League , a merger of the Asian Champions Cup, Asian Cup Winner's Cup and Asian Super Cup , there was a surprise. Last year's champion, BEC Tero Sasana , marched into the final and had to admit defeat to Al Ain from the United Arab Emirates . It was the first time since 1995 that a Thai club could reach the finals of the Asian premier class. On the way to the final, the Kashima Antlers from Japan were defeated.

It was also the first time that two Thai clubs took part in the premier class. While one team surprised, FC Osotspa M-150 made a fool of itself . As the last of the group you went home with zero points and a goal difference of 1:20.

BEC Tero Sasana also took part in the newly formed competition, the ASEAN Club Championship , which was held in Indonesia . Here, too, they made it to the finals, but then lost too; this time against Kingfisher East Bengal FC from India .
