Macon and Sarah have a conversation in which Sarah mentions that she was already thinking about having another child. They argue about it. After they have calmed down, Macon tells his wife that she has overcome the death of her child and no longer needs him. However, he needs Muriel, who has helped him find out who he is himself.

He is taking a trip to Paris and is sitting in a taxi when he sees Muriel on the sidewalk. The car stops and Muriel is happy to see Leary.
