Reviews

Kevin Thomas wrote in the Los Angeles Times on December 24, 2003 that Malcolm McDowell could properly portray the “ fiery temperament ” of a ballet art director. He, the director and the screenwriter Barbara Turner would defy the clichés.

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was “a rather abstract dance film, with no actual plot, with dabbed arcs of tension, bracketed by some ballet scenes that were danced out ”. It draws on " the lightness of the subject and should appeal primarily to friends of modern dance theater ".

Rotten Tomatoes certified the film as " authenticity and wealth " that would result from the collaboration with the real Joffrey Ballet.

Susan Kaufmann was nominated in 2004 for the design of the costumes for the Golden Satellite Award . The film was nominated for the 2004 Golden Reel Award for sound editing .
