The Dresden Files is a twelve-part Canadian - US fantasy series based on the novels of the same name by Jim Butcher . It premiered on January 21, 2007 on Space in Canada and on SciFi Channel in the United States.

action

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is a private detective. He works with the Chicago police. However, he uses his own methods for the investigation because he is a magician. During his work, he often comes into contact with other supernatural beings, such as vampires, werewolves, shape shifters or other wizards. Often he has to protect people or other supernatural beings from them or destroy dangerous beings. Conflicts often arise with his police colleague Murphy. He can't tell her all about his investigation. He also has very unconventional investigative methods.

Dresden's past is also discussed again and again. Even as a small boy, Dresden was blessed with magical gifts. His father wanted to protect him from all evil. However, his uncle had other plans. He killed Dresden's father and taught Dresden black magic. Even in the present, Dresden is still struggling with its past.

Deviation from the novel

In a message on a forum, Jim Butcher stated that the series does not attempt to exactly recreate the books. Those who expected this would be disappointed. It is an alternative world based on motifs from the novels.
