The Muppets Conquer Manhattan is a 1984 puppet film based on the television series Muppet Show .

action

At the beginning of the film, the Muppets put on a musical in their college . After everyone thinks the musical is a success, the Muppets decide to go to Manhattan together to perform their musical there on Broadway. In addition, Miss Piggy wants to marry her great love, Kermit the frog , there.

After the Muppets have tried in vain for more than six weeks to win a producer for their project there and they have no more money, the Muppets go their separate ways Ways. Only Kermit remains in Manhattan and works in Pete's restaurant. At the same time, he and Pete's daughter Jenny are trying rather dishonest methods to continue to find a producer for the musical. But even these attempts remain unsuccessful.

While walking in the park with Jenny, Kermit runs into Miss Piggy, who had secretly stayed in Manhattan and was jealously following him all the time, which leads to an argument between the two of them.

When a donor for the musical has just been found, Kermit is hit by a car and loses his memory. A short time later he starts his new life as a copywriter. After Miss Piggy has meanwhile brought the other Muppets back to New York, they and their financier search unsuccessfully for Kermit for days. When they finally find Kermit, he does not recognize his friends at first and so the Muppets decide to perform the musical without him. Only shortly before the start of the musical does Kermit regain his memory after a heavy downpour from Miss Piggy and so the musical can finally be performed with a newly arranged final scene in a church filled with all known Henson characters. To Kermit's astonishment, as a real priest suddenly stands at the altar instead of Gonzo, Miss Piggy and Kermit are actually married in the end.
