action

Carol, Tyreese and Judith pass a hut in the forest just before Terminus, where a Terminus dweller places fireworks that are regularly fired to the confusion of the walkers. They overhear his conversation over the radio with his accomplices , in which some of the prison survivors are mentioned. Startled, Tyreese and Carol quickly capture the man and question him. Carol decides to secretly explore Terminus, while Tyreese stays behind with Judith in the hut . The man engages Tyreese in a conversation in which he finally announces that Tyreese, Carol and little Judith will not survive the day. Meanwhile, Carol watches as the trapped Rick, Bob, Daryl and Glenn are led across the Terminus compound. They are in a great hall put that into a kind of slaughterhouse was converted, only that he was not the slaughter of cattle is used, but the people. In a spectacular rescue operation, Carol manages to free all of her friends unscathed from the clutches of the brutal cannibals. The joy of reunion is great, especially between Rick and Judith, as well as between Carol and Daryl. Rick expresses his gratitude to his daughter's rescuers. A little later, the survivors rescue a pastor who is surrounded by walkers and leads them to his church , where they find shelter for a few days. With the help of Father Gabriel, they get more supplies, whereby Bob, unnoticed by others, is bitten and infected. Meanwhile, they are spied on by a group of surviving Terminus dwellers who kidnap Bob and eat his left leg shortly afterwards. After he tells them that they have eaten infected meat, the dying Bob is put down at the church. Warned by this, Rick and his group manage to lure the enemy into an ambush and - in a brutal way - to kill them.

After Abraham and his team got an old church bus roadworthy, he insists that the group continue their journey to Washington, DC. Since Rick decides against it, the group splits up again: Maggie, Glenn and Tara go with Abraham. But when a little later, after a car breakdown, they stand in front of an area overrun by walkers, the frightened Eugene finally confesses that he is not a scientist at all, but rather that he lied from the start in order to be protected by others. What puts Abraham under heavy psychological stress. The group then heads back to the church. Meanwhile, the viewer learns that the kidnapped Beth is being held at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. The group is led by the - outwardly - dominant Dawn and her uniformed police officers, with whom she wages a subliminal power struggle, often on the backs of uninvolved group members. Beth befriends Noah, who is about the same age and who, like her, is being held there against his will. When they try to escape together, he escapes, but Beth is captured again and brought back. Noah then meets Daryl and Carol, who are in Atlanta looking for Beth. A little later, Carol is run over by Dawn's people, taken to the hospital and successfully treated by Beth's efforts. Meanwhile, Daryl informs his group about the events. Together with Noah, Rick, Tyreese and Sasha, they manage to free Carol through a prisoner exchange. Beth is accidentally shot by Dawn when she suddenly attacks her with a pair of scissors. Daryl reacts immediately and shoots Dawn. Meanwhile, the group around Abraham arrives at the Grady Memorial with their father Gabriel, Michonne, Carl and Judith . The joy at the news that Beth is still alive is suddenly replaced by deep sorrow for her loss. Maggie breaks down in tears at the sight of her slain sister .

Rick's group decides to leave the Atlanta area for Noah's last refuge in Shirewilt, near Richmond, Virginia , which they find devastated. In Noah's old house, Tyreese is attacked and infected by a walker. The group amputated his injured arm, but he died anyway due to severe blood loss . Since Sasha had recently lost Bob, with whom she had fallen in love, she falls into a depression, becomes tired of life and distances herself from the rest of the group. Exhausted and discouraged from the exertions of the past few days, the group wanders aimlessly down a street and doesn't even care about the walkers who are chasing them as long as they don't get dangerously close. After a few days, the survivors found some filled water bottles "from a friend" in the middle of the street and feared being spied on. Out of fear, they do not touch the water despite advanced dehydration . At the same time, a storm is approaching and Rick's group is looking for shelter in an abandoned barn in the forest. The next morning, Sasha and Maggie are approached by a man named Aaron who asks for an audience with Rick. He claims to be a member of a peaceful community that lives in a city protected by a meter-high steel wall and is looking for new members to enrich it. Rick does not believe Aaron's story and threatens him. At Michonne's urging, and after checking some of Aaron's claims, Rick finally agrees to go to Alexandria. Once there, Deanna, the leader of the Alexandrians, picks up the group and assigns them two houses in the settlement. She also names Rick sheriff and Michonne his partner.

The survivors are amazed and increasingly frustrated by the carelessness and naivety of the residents of Alexandria in dealing with outsiders - humans as well as biters. Since most of the residents have lived protected by walls and largely shielded from the outside world almost since the beginning of the Apocalypse, very few of them have had combat experience, let alone a realistic idea of the new, brutal world outside these walls. Several references to the obvious weaknesses in her system meet with little understanding from Deanna, who is firmly convinced of her leadership style . On his first day in Alexandria, Rick meets his married mother, Jessie Anderson, and over time develops feelings for her. After he learns that Jessie's husband Pete is physically abusing her, Deanna has a conflict and forbids him to interfere in the matter. When Rick interferes with the couple, a brutal fight breaks out between the two men, which is ended by Michonne's intervention. During a council to decide whether Rick should be expelled from the community, Pete freaks out and kills Deanna's husband Reg. This resolves Deanna's doubts about Rick: She tells him to shoot her husband's killer, which Rick does does without any hesitation. At the same time Morgan arrives in Alexandria, who was also recruited as residents by Daryl and Aaron.

In flashbacks, the residents of Terminus are attacked and captured by looters. The inhabitants of Terminus were then able to overcome the looters and became butchers in turn. The signs lure those seeking help to Terminus, where they are slaughtered and processed into meat. In the present, Carol and Tyreese learn by chance from Martin, a scout from Terminus, whom they managed to overpower in front of a hut, that Carl and Michonne are being held prisoner there. Carol sets out to free the group while Tyreese stays behind and takes care of Judith. When Martin can threaten Judith's life in order to blackmail Tyreese and thus send him out of the hut, in front of which there are many walkers, Tyreese kills all walkers and can then overwhelm and kill Martin again. Carol causes a gas tank to explode, setting fire to parts of Terminus, attracting a herd of walkers and invading the site. This enables her to avert the execution of Rick, Daryl, Glenn and Bob, who use their opportunity to escape the cannibals living in Terminus. The four fight their way through the herd of walkers and the rest of the Terminus residents, eventually rescuing the rest of their group who were still trapped in the car. Gareth - the leader of Terminus - is shot on the roof in an exchange of fire by Rick, after which all of Rick's group can escape over the fence into the forest. In the nearby forest, they collect the previously hidden weapons. When Rick wants to go back one more time to kill the survivors of Terminus, the rest of the group refuses and they move on. However, Abraham still plans to escort Eugene to Washington to fight the virus. Rick sees one of the signs she had brought to Terminus and rewrites it to "No Sanctuary". Finally, there is another look back at the captured residents of Terminus who were abused by the looters, in which Gareth states that you are either the butcher or the herd and they would take it back.

While the group continues to move through the forest, one evening Daryl thinks he has noticed something in the bushes, but cannot discover anything. The next day, they find a priest, Gabriel Stokes, who pretends to have never killed a walker or a human. The group accompanies Gabriel to his church for temporary accommodation. That thanks before the outbreak of the virus for the local Gabriel panel could survive donated cans, reports that there is still food in the building of the panel, but stay biter there. Rick speaks to Carl and expresses his distrust of Gabriel, he asks him to take care and not to trust anyone while he goes to the table with Gabriel, Michonne, Bob and Sasha. There the five discover some walkers in a flooded area; Bob is dragged underwater but is able to break free. Rick notices that Gabriel is hiding something, but he still doesn't want to tell anything. The group makes their way back to church with groceries. On the church facade, Carl discovers the words “You'll burn for this”. During dinner, Abraham explains that it is necessary to slowly return to Washington; Rick agrees with him. Tara admits to Maggie that she and the governor attacked the prison, but Maggie now counts her in the group. Rick thanks Gabriel for the accommodation, but threatens him with consequences if his secret should endanger the group. Carol and Daryl go to a roadworthy car that they had found earlier. When suddenly another car drives past them at high speed, Daryl recognizes it as the vehicle he saw when Beth was allegedly kidnapped. The two chase the car. Bob, who has since left the church, is captured by Gareth's people. When Bob regains consciousness, he registers that his leg has been amputated and that this is being eaten by Gareth's people, who call themselves hunters .

Bob is lying by the fire at a school that has a lot of walkers locked in, talking to Gareth. This again explains his absurd theories to him. Bob has a hysterical fit of laughter and shows him the bite wound he received from the biter in the water. Gareth's people spit and choke the meat and want to kill Bob. Meanwhile, Sasha searches for Bob outside the church and finds that they are being watched. When she gets back to church, she confronts Gabriel, supported by Rick. Under massive pressure, Gabriel says that he closed the church to his congregation and did not let anyone in while the walkers killed them outside. Suddenly they hear a whistle and find Bob lying in front of the church. You bring him inside and find out what happened to him, including that he is infected. Abraham wants to leave the church immediately with the now repaired bus and argues with Rick, while Glenn mediates. They agree that he will stay another day when Tara, Glenn, and Maggie accompany him to Washington. In an intermediate panel you can see how the glass of a window at the school with the caged walkers is cracking.

Tyreese, Carl, Rosita and Gabriel hide in the office with Judith, the rest leave the church and disappear into the forest. Shortly thereafter, Gareth and his group appear in front of the church and enter there. He knows exactly who is still in the church, but not exactly where, and threatens them with death. When Judith starts to cry, he wants to break into the office when suddenly two of his people are shot from behind. Rick and the others show up and disarm Gareth's group. When Rick talks to Gareth, you can see the machete with the red handle on his belt. Rick announces that he will keep his promise and kills Gareth, the others the rest of the group. Michonne finds her sword in the ogre's luggage. Shortly afterwards, Bob dies. When Sasha tries to kill him completely, Tyreese does it for her. The next morning Abraham leaves with part of the group, but first gives Rick a map with the planned route. The next night, Michonne was sitting on the steps of the church and spoke briefly to Gabriel when she heard a noise. Daryl emerges from the forest, obviously accompanied.

Beth wakes up in a patient room at an Atlanta hospital. The police officer Dawn Lerner runs the hospital and assigns her a job as a nurse under the supervision of the only doctor, Dr. Steven Edwards, too. Dawn forces all rescued people, regardless of whether they were taken to hospital voluntarily or involuntarily, to integrate and do tasks. She hopes that the military will save everyone. Edwards shows Beth around the hospital and explains that anyone who can be helped will be helped, as long as it doesn't waste resources. When the badly injured Gavin Trevitt is admitted to the hospital, Dawn expects Edwards to save him at all costs. When Edwards gives up, Dawn slaps Beth in the face. Beth has to help them amputate Joan's arm after she was bitten and recaptured after trying to escape from the hospital. This happens against her will, but Edwards explains to Beth that she owes something to her rescuers and must therefore help. She later meets Noah, a laundry worker who tells Beth that those responsible only save the weak and that he wants to flee to Virginia, where there is a walled refuge. Gorman, the cop, who saved Beth, begins molesting her, but is interrupted by Edwards. Beth asks him why he is still in the hospital under these circumstances; he replies that it is still better than between the walkers outside the hospital. He asks Beth to give the injured Trevitt a dose of clozapine , but the latter begins to have seizures and eventually dies. Noah takes the blame, whereupon Dawn beats him up. Beth is later confronted by her because she saw through the lie. Beth and Noah eventually plan to escape the hospital through the elevator shaft. While Beth is looking for the keys in Dawn's office, she discovers Joan on the floor, who appears to have committed suicide. Gorman comes in and harasses her sexually again, whereupon Beth, who has noticed that Joan wakes up again as a walker, smashes a glass on his head. Gorman falls to the ground and is attacked by Joan. Beth and Noah put their escape plan into action. Beth is stopped by the police in front of the hospital - but Noah escapes. Beth later confronts Dawn about her methods and that they would all die because of her, whereupon Dawn beats her. Beth then lets Edwards know that it is clear to her that he deliberately killed Trevitt because he was also a doctor and would otherwise have endangered Edward's position as the only doctor. When she later also wants to kill Edwards, the unconscious Carol is being driven into the hallway on a stretcher.

In flashbacks, Abraham is shown killing several people who threatened and ambushed his family. His family are shocked and leave him in the middle of the night while he sleeps. The next day, Abraham finds them torn by walkers. When he tries to shoot himself, Eugene, fleeing from walkers, yells for help, whereupon Abraham kills the walkers. In the present, Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Tara, Maggie and Glenn are driving past a group of walkers in the church bus when suddenly a defect occurs on the vehicle, Abraham loses control, their bus hits a vehicle and overturns. However, the six remain unharmed and can escape from the bus before it goes up in flames and dispose of the walkers. The group finally finds a bookstore that serves as a shelter for the night. Abraham thanks Glenn for his guidance and support. Eugene observes - as occasionally before and not unnoticed by them - Abraham and Rosita having sex and is caught by Tara. He confesses to her that he sabotaged the fuel line on the bus. When asked “Why?” He replies that he cannot survive on his own and that he no longer has any value and that the group would no longer protect him if he could not save the world. Tara replies that they are friends and promises not to reveal his secret. The next day, Abraham decides that they should move on and tries to get a fire engine running again. He drives it a few meters away from the fire station, from which a number of walkers can now escape and harass the group. Eugene can put the walkers out of action with the help of the water syringe on the roof of the fire engine. Finally, the group sets off with the vehicle. Not long after, they come to a stop again due to a vehicle damage and Abraham decides to continue on foot. They spot a huge herd of walkers some distance ahead on the road. Abraham tries to walk through the middle of the crowd, but Glenn asks him to go back into town or find another way. Abraham gets angry and pulls Eugene back to the vehicle. When the rest of the group get into a scuffle with Abraham, Eugene admits that he is neither a scientist, nor the cause of the virus outbreak or any antidote. As the others struggle after this confession, he goes on to explain that he used his intelligence to lie to others so they would bring him to Washington, DC, just as Abraham wanted to do, as it is one of the best places to survive be. Abraham then knocks him out until he is stopped by Rosita from doing worse to him. Abraham runs back towards the city and collapses in tears on the road.

Daryl and Carol continue to chase the car with the white cross from episode 2 ( Gabriel ) that Daryl saw when Beth was kidnapped. When they followed him to Atlanta, they look for a shelter for the night, which they finally find in a women's refuge. The next day they see an ambulance with a white cross hanging halfway over a bridge from a high-rise office building. On the way there Noah stole their weapons; when Carol tries to shoot him in the leg, Daryl prevents her and says that Noah is just "a stupid boy". Carol and Daryl examine the ambulance and come across a clue about the hospital where Beth is trapped. However, they are surprised by walkers from whom they hide inside the car. Since an escape becomes impossible, they have no alternative but to push the car down the bridge by shifting their weight. Carol and Daryl remain unharmed by the fall and make their way to the hospital. In a building very close by, they meet Noah again, who has to deal with walkers. Daryl throws him on a shelf using a body check, which then tips over, and takes the weapons off him again. When Carol helps Noah out from under the cupboard, Noah tells them that Beth is definitely in the hospital and helped him escape. On the street, Carol is hit by a hospital car and taken to the hospital on a stretcher. Daryl tries to storm the car, but Noah holds him back because the hospital could heal her injuries. Daryl makes his way back to the church with Noah to get reinforcements to help rescue Beth and Carol.

After Daryl returns to the group at the church, they secure the building and Rick, Sasha, Tyreese, Daryl and Noah make their way to Atlanta to rescue Beth and Carol. Carl, Michonne and Gabriel stay behind with Judith. Carl explains to Gabriel that he has to be able to defend himself, as there is no safe place, whereupon he withdraws into a room and flees through a hole in the floor. At the hospital, Beth tries to help Carol after the devices that keep her alive are turned off. She receives the key to the medicine cabinet from Officer Dawn. Dr. Stevens tells her to give Carol a dose of epinephrine ; He also makes it clear to Beth that Dawn certainly did not give her the key "out of pure kindness of heart". Beth gives Carol the medication and stands next to her on the bed. While Maggie stays with Eugene and Abraham, Rosita, Glenn and Tara get fresh water and catch fish. Rosita tells how she got to know Abraham. When Maggie gives Abraham a bottle of water, Eugene wakes up. Rick suggests robbing the hospital and freeing Carol and Beth as quickly as possible, but Tyreese suggests taking hospital police officers hostage and using them to negotiate. After using Noah as bait, the group finally manages to catch three police officers after a scuffle. Officer Bob Lamson, one of the captured police officers, offers Rick to help them by telling the group how to negotiate with Officer Dawn. After Sasha, who is still mourning Bob (see episode 3, Four Walls and a Roof ), talks to Lamson, she learns that his partner is nearby, who was killed in the bombing of Atlanta and awoke as a walker . Sasha offers to kill him and Lamson leads her to a window from which Sascha could shoot him. When she aimed the rifle at one of the walkers, Lamson threw her against the window and collapsed unconscious, allowing Lamson to escape with his hands cuffed behind his back.

The fleeing Lamson is pursued by Rick in the car and asked to stop. Lamson keeps running, Rick brings him down with the vehicle and shoots him because his neck appears to have broken. The other two officers promise to lie and tell Dawn that Lamson was killed by rotten people. Meanwhile, Gabriel arrives at the school and the old camp of the survivors from Terminus and discovers Bob's grilled leg on the grill. The walkers at the school break through the door and Gabriel runs back to the church with the walkers following him. When Carl and Michonne open the door to let him in, the walkers also manage to enter the church, whereupon the three of them leave the church with Judith through the hole in the floor that Gabriel had previously used. Shortly after leaving the church, Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Glenn and Maggie arrive at the church in the fire truck and Glenn explains to Michonne that Eugene was a liar. She tells them that Beth is still alive and is in the Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, whereupon the group makes their way there. Meanwhile, Beth and Dawn argue that Dawn would protect Beth by keeping both Gorman's death and the fact that she saved Carol a secret from the others. When they realize that Officer O'Donnell is eavesdropping on them and that he wants to betray Dawn, the two kill him by Beth pushing him down the elevator shaft after Dawn and O'Donnell fought. Shortly thereafter, Beth accuses Dawn that she was only covering her to protect herself; she also makes it clear that like Noah, she will escape. Dawn contradicts her and tells her that Noah will be back. Rick's group eventually arrives at the hospital and meets Dawn and her people. The two officers are handed over in exchange for Carol and Beth. When Rick and the others want to go on their way, Dawn demands the return of Noah, since Beth was only his temporary help and Noah is needed again now. He wants to obey and Beth says goodbye to him. When Dawn reminds Beth that she has already said that Noah will be back, Beth stabs her in the chest with scissors hidden in her cast. Dawn instinctively fires the already drawn gun and kills Beth with a shot in the head. Everyone is briefly shocked and Dawn protests that she did not want that - but Daryl shoots her immediately. Both groups point their guns at each other again, but Officer Shepherd defuses the situation and explains that it was only about Dawn. Rick declines Edwards' offer to stay in the hospital and in turn offers the others to follow him and his group. Only Noah accepts the offer. Rick's group leaves the hospital and meets the others who have meanwhile arrived at the hospital in the fire engine. Daryl carries Beth's dead body outside; when Maggie sees him, she collapses in dismay.

Morgan Jones continues to search for Rick's group and eventually arrives at the church, where he sends Abraham's card to Rick, saying “Come to Washington. The new World needs Rick Grimes. "(" Go to Washington. The new world needs Rick Grimes. ") Finds.

After seeing the group mourn at a grave, Rick suggests driving to Richmond to find the place Beth wanted to accompany Noah to. Rick, Glenn, Tyreese, Noah, and Michonne form a vanguard to check out the place that has been overrun by walkers. Noah collapses when he realizes that he has lost his family. While Tyreese stays with him, the rest of them go in search of useful objects and food. When Tyreese tries to comfort Noah, Noah jumps up and runs to his family house, Tyreese follows him. Once there, Tyreese first enters the house to check that it is safe. Inside they find a corpse with a broken skull, which Noah covers with a cloth with tears. Tyreese checks a child's room and uses photos to determine that Noah had twin brothers. One of the brothers, now a biter, bites Tyreese on the arm. Noah kills his brother and promises Tyreese to get help. Tyreese has meanwhile hallucinations in which Martin (from terminus ), Bob, the two girls Lizzie and Mika as well as the governor and Beth appear. Martin and the governor defame Tyreese's actions as weak and declare that his death is the price. The other four encourage him well and defend all actions. Meanwhile, Michonne is committed to rebuilding the place, but Rick explains that this is hopeless. However, Michonne can convince Rick to at least go to Washington, DC to look for protection there. When they hear Noah's cries for help, they rush to his parents' house, where Michonne Tyreese cuts off his forearm and the group carries him to the car. Tyreese, who had been fully conscious again in the meantime, dies while driving, accompanied by another hallucination with Beth, Bob, Lizzie and Mika. The grave from the beginning of the episode ultimately turns out not to be Beth's, but that of Tyreese. While Gabriel reads from the Bible, the rest of the group griefly tries to come to terms with the further loss.

The group struggles with hunger and thirst on the way to Washington DC. Everyone is in deep mourning for the recently lost friends and family members, especially Daryl and Sasha. Daryl burns himself by burning a cigarette. Sasha's grief for her brother Tyreese drives them to rash reactions of anger, which puts their companions in danger when eliminating a group of walkers who run after them. After a while, the group found a large water supply in the middle of the street with a piece of paper on which "From a friend" was written in large letters. Eugene offers himself as a taster, but Abraham knocks the bottle that has already been brought to his mouth out of his hands. Their bad experiences do not let them drink the water, but their thirst comes to an end when it begins to rain shortly afterwards. When a violent storm is on the horizon, the group takes refuge in a nearby barn. At the fire, Rick talks to a few others and tells about his grandfather in the Second World War, who was able to survive it, although he considered himself doomed. Rick explains that they are now "the walking dead" and could survive. During the night Daryl is woken up by the storm and can just close the barn door before a herd of walkers can enter. The noise also gradually wakes the others up and now pushes against the door from the inside together to prevent the walkers from breaking through. After the storm passed the next morning, Maggie asks Sasha to come with her to watch the sunrise. Outside, the walkers were crushed or impaled by trees torn down by the storm. A man appears on the edge of a field who introduces himself as Aaron and wants to speak to the leader Rick.

After Sasha and Maggie disarm the stranger and take his belongings, they take him to the barn with the others. Aaron eloquently and politely describes the high fences where his community is staying and invites the group to come along, look around and become part of the community, but Rick knocks him out of the blue. When Carl finds a flare gun while searching his backpack, Rick realizes that this is intended to signal to others where the group is. When Aaron comes to, Rick wants to know how many of his people are outside. Aaron names "one" and tells of two vehicles parked away and also that it was he who put the water on the street for them (episode 10). Rick is extremely suspicious and believes an attack is possible; Michonne is determined to verify his information.

Rosita, Abraham, Michonne, Glenn and Maggie start looking for the vehicles. Rick threatens Aaron to kill him if the five aren't back within an hour. Meanwhile, they find a car and a mobile home with groceries, which were blocked by the storm last night. In the barn, Aaron offers Rick a glass of applesauce from his backpack for the screaming Judith, which Rick forces him to try beforehand. When the rest of the group returns with the groceries and cars, Michonne decides that the group will go with them. During the night, she sets out on the route to the north indicated by Aaron. Rick continues to distrust him and uses a different route than the one he wanted, because it has been cleaned. The car in front with Rick, Michonne, Glenn and the tied up Aaron drives into a horde of strays, comes to a stop and is also separated from the others in the motorhome. The group around Rick sees a flare in the night sky and while Aaron runs in panic and tied up in this direction into the forest, they decide to follow him to maybe find the other group there again. In the forest there are fights with the undead, with Glenn severing Aaron's shackles so that he can fight, because you can only do it together . In the meantime the group behind has holed up in a small shop and Daryl leads the group around Rick with whistles. When she arrives there, Aaron calls for his friend Eric, whom he finds with a broken ankle in a back room and already treated. Glenn persuades Rick to finally believe Aaron. In the morning everyone sets off in their vehicles to Alexandria, the place whose name Aaron has now revealed. When they arrive, Rick and Michonne hear children playing at the gates of Alexandria. The group leaves the vehicles and approaches the gate.

Aaran leads the group into Alexandria. After Sasha has shot another walker through the closing gates, Rick is introduced to the leader Deanna. This records the conversation on video to ensure transparency. Shortly afterwards, the group is asked to surrender their weapons while they are in Alexandria. However, you could have them anytime you want to leave the city. Aaron assigns a house to Rick and Carl. Since they finally have running water and solar power again, Rick uses this for a shower and shave. A blonde young woman named Jessie, who brings him supplies, offers to cut his hair, which he gratefully accepts. Since Rick is still suspicious, he suggests that the group not spend the next night separately, but sleep together in the same house so that they cannot be divided up and thereby weakened. Carl meets Ron, Jessie's teenage son, and through him Enid, a girl his age. Carl follows her as she climbs over the fence, but loses sight of her. He runs into Rick looking for the gun he had hidden in an old blender before the group came to Alexandria. However, this has disappeared.

After each of the newcomers has a recorded one-on-one interview with Deanna, they are assigned specific tasks. From now on, Carol will take care of the elderly Alexandria residents and occasionally bake something. Noah, Glenn, and Tara are assigned to help Deanna's son Aiden and Nicholas explore the area and get food. Aiden says that a month earlier they lost four people on a tour who didn't stick to their agreements. When Aiden and Nicholas lead the three to a tree to which they had chained a walker, it has disappeared; Nicholas lures him back with a whistle. When the walker threatens Tara, Glenn stabs him, whereupon Aiden sees his orders as leader disregarded. Back at camp, Glenn, Aiden, Nicholas and Daryl fight a fight. Deanna then asks everyone to surrender their weapons again, sends Aiden and Nicholas to their office and thanks Glenn that this Aiden "put one in". She also wants Rick and Michonne to be sheriffs of the small town, which the two assume. After Rick has put on a uniform, a conversation ensues between him, Daryl and Carol. Carol fears the group might get weak, but Rick denies this and explains that they would take over the place if the others “couldn't do it”.

Outside Alexandria, Sasha, who is still visibly traumatized by the death of her brother, and Rick, Carol and Daryl do target practice. The latter as a pretext to decide undisturbed to steal weapons from the armory at the next opportunity in order to have some in case of emergency. In doing so, they take out a walker with a "W" incised on its forehead. Daryl has trouble fitting in with the community, so he regularly seeks time to himself, outside the fence. During an excursion, he notices that Aaron is watching him and confronts him. Aaron accompanies Daryl after a short conversation, shortly afterwards they meet a feral horse. When trying to catch it together, they are attacked by a horde of walkers, who then fall victim to the horse. Aaron relieves the horse from its torments with a heavy heart with a coup de grace.

Before Rick, Michonne, and Maggie, Deanna conjures up her vision of the future: a prosperous community of law, commerce, industry, and government. However, Rick is concerned about the insufficient security, it is not the walkers in his eyes that are the real enemies, but the people outside. First of all, he ensures that the watchtowers are manned in shifts around the clock. Sasha, in particular, wants to take on as many shifts as possible.

In the evening, Deanna hosts a welcome party for the newcomers in her home, at which all the residents of Alexandria are to come together. Rick and Carol think this is the right opportunity to get into the armory unnoticed. Carol, who wants to come up with homemade biscuits at the party, gets the ingredients from Olivia's store. She uses the opportunity to secretly set the window latch of the adjoining armory to "open". Daryl can't bring himself to go to the party. He is spontaneously invited by Aaron to have dinner with him and Eric, as they are both absent from the party because of Eric's ankle injuries. At dinner, Aaron tells Daryl that he would like him to replace Eric as Alexandria's second recruiter. In Aaron's opinion, Daryl is able to survive “outside” and can tell the difference between good and bad people in his eyes. At the party, Rick meets Jessie again, they both feel drawn to each other, whereupon Rick gives her a secret kiss on the cheek. Meanwhile, Carol leaves the party inconspicuously and enters the armory through the window. She follows Jessie's little son Sam and sees her stealing revolvers . Carol can convince him with a threat and the promise of new cookies to keep what he sees to himself. The next day Rick takes a revolver from her; Daryl has given up his suspicions and renounces one of the stolen weapons.

She wants to banish him should events get out of hand. Rick goes to Jessie, but she says she doesn't need any help from him. Rick, who has his eye on her, keeps talking to her when Pete walks in. Rick and Pete get into an argument that quickly escalates into a physical altercation, shifts outside, and attracts townspeople. Rick overwhelms Pete.
