Pierre de Thoisy

Pierre de Thoisy (born October 5, 1953 ) is a former French automobile racing driver .

Career

Pierre de Thoisy began his motorsport career in 1983 in the French touring car championship and ended the season in 14th place in the overall standings. After a detour to the French Formula 3 championship in 1984, he drove consistently to touring and sports car races .

In 1984 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with an eleventh place in the overall standings. Until 1999 he had competed twelve times in this race. The best place remained the eleventh place in 1984. In 1993 he finished the race in 16th place in the overall standings and thus came second in the GT2 class. He made his last appearance at Le Mans in 1999, as a partner of the former Formula 1 driver Jean-Pierre Jarier and Sébastien Bourdais , who still had his time in the top monoposto class ahead of him. The race ended prematurely for the trio after an engine failure on the Porsche 911 GT2.

In the late 1990s, he also competed in the Renault Spider Europe Cup.

After the end of his active career, de Thoisy worked as managing director and marketing manager at Pescarolo Sport and won the historic Carrera Panamericana seven times between 1997 and 2007 .
