Jean-Marie Alméras (born September 13, 1943 in Montpellier ) is a French racing car driver and racing team owner and the uncle of Philippe Alméras .

Career

Jean-Marie Alméras is the older of the two Alméras brothers and was born six years before his brother Jacques . Together with his brother, he ran a racing team in the 1980s and 1990s, where he was also active as a driver.

With his brother Jacques and his compatriot Marianne Hoepfner as partners, he made his debut at the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1980 . This first appearance ended prematurely after an accident with the Porsche 934 . He competed eight times in his career at Le Mans, with 15th overall position in 1983 as the best overall placement.

In 1978, 1979 and 1980 he won the overall ranking of the racing car class of the European Hill Climb Championship and in 1978 also the French Hill Climb Championship. Even at the age of over 70, Jean-Marie Alméras still competes in hill climbs in his historic Porsche 935 .
