Thomas Friedrich von Bornstedt (born February 16, 1655 , † October 28, 1697 in Dresden ) was a Polish - Saxon lieutenant general .

Life

Bornstedt was a member of the Neumark tribe A of the noble Bornstaedt family . His parents were the heir to Dolgen Hans Wilhelm von Bornstedt and Hippolyte, née von Somnitz from the Braunsfeld family.

Career

At the age of 17 Bornstedt began studying at the Alma Mater Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and graduated in 1672. Afterwards he entered service in Brandenburg and was under General Grumbkow in Cuirassier Regiment No. 4 . With the regiment he moved out to Alsace in the Dutch War in 1674 and advanced to lieutenant . After the Swedish invasion of Prussia , he led his company from the Reich towards the enemy as a captain . In 1686 he belonged to the Brandenburg contingent of 8,000 men who were sent to the Great Turkish War . So he also took part in the siege of Ofen . In 1689 he and Marshal Schöning crossed the Rhine in the Palatinate War of Succession .

In 1692 he switched to the Saxon Army as a colonel and in 1693 became commander of the Leibregiment zu Roß . In 1694 he was sent back to the Rhine under Louis von Baden . That same year he received his promotion to major general . Afterwards he moved out again against the Ottomans and from 1695 to 1696 he was in the field in Poland and was promoted to lieutenant general in 1697 shortly before his death.

family

Bornstedt entered the marriage covenant three times. His first wife was Louise von der Groeben from the Meseberg family in 1683 († 1686). Afterwards he married Louise Hedwig von Röbel from the Friedland family in 1691, widowed Borcksdorff. Since 1695 his last wife was Johanna Eleonora von Bose from the Frankenberg family (1661–1718), widowed Schönberg , daughter Christoph Dietrich Bose the elder . The marriages produced five children:
