Thomas Klees (born October 14, 1966 in Bremen ) is a German actor and author .

Life

Education and theater

Klees grew up in Brake , Schwanewede , Dedelstorf and Hanover . After high school, community service and a stay of several years in Italy , he completed an acting training at the Stage School in Hamburg from 1991 .

His first engagement was at the Klecks Theater in Hanover . From 1993 to 1999 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at Theater Kiel (Theater im Werftpark). Klees has worked as a freelance actor since 2000, initially mainly in Hamburg, where he appeared in the Kampnagel cultural center (2000, 2003) and at the Altona Theater (2001). He had then more theater engagements, including at the State Theater in Stuttgart (2005), at the Theater Freiburg , at the Theater Lübeck (2001, as the narrator / Flibbertigibitt in Pinocchio ), at the City Theater of Hildesheim , and later several times at the theater for Lower Saxony and the theater Aspic (2005 , in King Kong ; directed by Uli Jäckle ).

His stage roles included the psychologist Kelvin in a stage version of the novel Solaris (2003, Stadttheater Hildesheim), King Gunther in Die Nibelungen (2004, Stadttheater Hildesheim), the narrator in a stage version of the film Dogville (2007, Stadttheater Hildesheim) and the Jury No. 3 in The Twelve Jurors (season 2011/12, at the Theater für Niedersachsen).

In 2007 he worked at the Lichthof Theater in Hamburg in the role of father in the world premiere of the play Agonie by Nino Harati wili (director: Nino Harati wili). In the 2013/14 season he took on the role of Titus Andronicus in an “Opera Stabile” production on Kampnagel. In 2014 he performed at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen . In the 2014/15 season he was a guest at the Bremen Theater as a grandfather in the musical theater piece The Little Mermaid (based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen ).

Between 2015 and 2017 he was a guest in several productions at the Reutlingen Theater . In the 2017/18 season he was the father of the first performance of the play Schlaraffenland by Philipp Löhle at the Hamburger Kammerspiele ; with this production he also appeared at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen. In January / February 2018 he appeared at the Altona Theater in a stage version of the Huxley novel Brave New World in the role of Helmholtz Watson.

Movie and TV

Since the early 2000s, Klees has also taken on film roles in feature films , television films and television series . However, the focus of his professional activity is still theater work. In the thriller Antibody (2005) he had a small role as a publishing manager.

He had episode roles and supporting roles in various television series, including Inspektor Rolle (2004), Bella Block (2004), Doppelter Einsatz (2007) and SOKO Wismar (2011).

In the ARD television series Rote Rosen he was seen in a recurring supporting role from December 2011 to December 2012 (episode 1160 to 1410). He embodied the scheming and unscrupulous politician Dr. Seefeldt, the political opponent of the role figure Anne Lichtenhagen. Klees had already taken on a supporting role in the series in 2009. This was later followed by roles in the series Morden im Norden (2013), Die Pfefferkörner (2014; 2016) and Großstadtrevier (2017). In the ZDFneo -Sitcom Tanken - mehr als Super (2018) he portrayed the Italian Giorgio in a supporting role in the episode.

Klees also worked as a speaker for radio plays and audio books ; Klees read the audio book Eiskalt wie die Tod by Henning Mankell at the Random House publishing group .

Klees lives in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel .

Activity as an author

In addition to his work as an actor, Klees has also been a writer since 1999 . In 1999 he published the volume of poetry to become without a trace at the DVA . Further poems appeared in the following period, especially in anthologies and literary magazines. In 2000 he held a residency grant from the Berlin Senate at the Berlin Literary Colloquium .

He was a co-author of radio plays and scripts . He wrote plays, especially for children's theater . For the Schauspielhaus Hamburg he created, together with Uli Jäckle, a theater version of the fairy tale The Little Mermaid .
