The 45th Tirreno – Adriatico cycle race took place from March 10th to 16th, 2010. It led in seven stages over a distance of 1274 kilometers. The race is part of the UCI World Calendar 2010 .

Both the first and second placed had the same time at the end of the last stage. Garzelli was third in each of the two intermediate sprints of the last stage, got one second time bonus and was able to catch up with Scarponi. According to the rules of the race, the placements of the two opponents were added, which means that Garzelli clearly had the better placements with 152 to 183 against Scarponi. The victory in the individual classification went to the Italian Stefano Garzelli.
