Toni Lang (born April 22, 1982 in Hutthurm ) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier .

Toni Lang started for TV Hauzenberg and was trained by Remo Krug and Fritz Fischer . The former sports soldier of the sports promotion group in Berchtesgaden belonged to the biathlon national team (B-team) of the DSV . The Ruhpolding started out as a cross-country skier . He made his international debut in December 2000 in Campra as part of the Continental Cup. In the 10-kilometer race he was 36. At the Junior World Championships in 2001 in Karpacz , Poland , he was 16th in the sprint. In February 2001 he achieved his first result in the top ten as eighth over 15 kilometers in Schonach , and in December he finished second behind Martin Tauber in Goms . Shortly afterwards he started in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for the first time in the cross-country world cup and finished 34th in the sprint. At the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest , he took seventh place in free technique over 10 kilometers and was tenth in the sprint. Lang won his first Continental Cup race in February 2003 in a sprint event in Valdidentro . He won his first World Cup points in January 2004 when he finished tenth in the Nové Město sprint . The following month he reached sixth place in the team sprint in Oberstdorf . In October of that year he achieved his best result in this discipline as third place at the start of the new season in Düsseldorf with Andreas Stitzl . At the German Championships in Munich in 2005 , Lang won bronze in the sprint.

After Lang did not achieve the expected success, he switched to biathlon in 2006. Here he made his debut in the first race of the Biathlon European Cup of the 2006/07 season in Obertilliach , where he finished 22nd in the sprint and thus won his first points straight away. In the same place he achieved his first top ten result in the next European Cup in the sprint as tenth. At the penultimate European Cup of the season in Haute-Maurienne , Lang achieved his first podium finish as third in the pursuit. At the last European Cup in Ridnaun , he finished second in the sprint, his best European Cup placement to date. At the German championships he did not win any medals, but was fourth four times. In the following season, Lang ran successfully, although he did not achieve any results on the podium. Nevertheless, at the end of the season he finished second in the overall standings behind Vincent Porret and won the overall standings in the Sprint European Cup. Due to the good placement, Lang achieved a starting place for the last races in the Biathlon World Cup 2007/2008 at Holmenkollen in Oslo. Before that, he was at the Biathlon European Championships 2008 in Nové Město tenth in the sprint, 12th in the pursuit, 48th in the individual and missed a medal in fourth with the relay. His two appearances in the World Cup ended on rank 38 in the sprint, which he qualified for the pursuit, where he just missed winning the first World Cup points as 32nd. The German championships in biathlon 2008 were very successful for Lang. In the individual he was seventh, in the pursuit he only had to admit defeat to Christoph Stephan and became runner-up. In the mass start, Lang reached eighth place and with the Bayern I relay he became German champion together with Andreas Birnbacher and Michael Greis . In 2010 , Daniel Graf and Johannes Kühn also won the bronze medal in Willingen .

In the Biathlon World Cup 2008/2009 , Lang made his first appearance in the World Cup in Oberhof, as the final runner of the German relay: 3rd place was Lang's first podium result in the World Cup. After the 2010/2011 season, he announced his retirement from active sports and began studying dentistry.

Lang married the biathlete Kathrin Hitzer in 2012 .
