The Waldhufendorf Topfseifersdorf was first mentioned in a document in 1208 as "Sifridersdorf". The place got its current name in 1766 due to the pottery trade that was then located in the place. The church of Topfseifersdorf was built between 1160 and 1180 in the Romanesque style. It contains a valuable altar from 1400. The poet Paul Fleming lived between 1616 and 1628 in the parsonage in Topfseifersdorf. In addition to the village itself, the villages of Winkeln , Zschoppelshain and Nieder-Thalheim belong to the parish of Topfseifersdorf .

Topfseifersdorf originally belonged to the Zschillen monastery . This came in 1543 with the entire property to Duke Moritz von Sachsen , who immediately secularized it and exchanged it for the Lords of Schönburg for the places Hohnstein , Wehlen and Lohmen in today's Saxon Switzerland . Therefore, the name Wechselburg came up for the place and the monastery complex . Since then, Topfseifersdorf has been run as an official village of the Schönburg rule, Wechselburg , which belonged to the Lords of Schönburg under Wettin suzerainty.

As part of the administrative reorganization of the Kingdom of Saxony, Topfseifersdorf was subordinated to the administration of the royal Saxon office of Rochlitz as part of the Schönburg feudal lordship of Wechselburg in 1835 . In 1856 Topfseifersdorf came to the Mittweida court office and in 1875 to the newly established Rochlitz administration .

As a result of the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the community of Topfseifersdorf was incorporated into the Rochlitz district in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which came to the Rochlitz district in Saxony in 1990 and in the Mittweida district in 1994 and in the district in 2008 Central Saxony rose.

On January 1, 1994, Topfseifersdorf merged with Königshain and Wiederau to form the municipality of Königshain-Wiederau.
