The Santos Tour Down Under 2013 took place from January 22nd to 27th , 2013. It was the 15th edition of this tour. This race marked the start of the UCI WorldTour 2013 . The route mainly ran through the state of South Australia .

Two days before the start of the tour, the Down Under Classic was traditionally held in Adelaide over 51 kilometers. The German cyclist André Greipel from the Belgian team Lotto Belisol won this for the second time in a row, having won it in 2012.

The first stage of the Tour Down Under led from Prospect to Lobethal and was also won by André Greipel. In doing so, he also took over the overall leader's ocher jersey . The second stage went to the British Geraint Thomas , who was then leader of the Tour of Australia for three days. Stage 3 was won by Tom Slagter . In the fourth stage, André Greipel again won the mass sprint. The fifth stage was won by the Australian Simon Gerrans on a mountain finish on Willunga Hill . Tom Slagter was the new leader in the overall standings. The last stage again went to André Greipel.

The Dutchman Tom Slagter won the overall standings and the junior ranks. Geraint Thomas won the points classification . The mountain classification went to the Spaniard Javier Moreno . The best team was the Luxembourg team RadioShack Leopard .
