The Tournavista district is located in the Puerto Inca province in the Huánuco region in central Peru . The district was established on November 19, 1984. The Tournavista district has an area of ​​1607 km². The 2017 census counted 5447 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 6,322, in 2007 it was 5052. The administrative seat of the district is the small town of Tournavista with 1,472 inhabitants located on the left bank of the Río Pachitea at an altitude of 250  m (as of 2017). Tournavista is located 58 km northeast of the provincial capital Puerto Inca .

Geographical location

The Tournavista district is located in the northeast of the Puerto Inca province. It has a longitudinal extension in east-west direction of 60 km. The district lies on the western edge of the Amazon basin . In the south-east rise the mountains of the Sira Mountains . The strongly meandering Río Pachitea flows through the district centrally in a north-easterly direction. The national road 5N from Alexander von Humboldt to Puerto Inca and on to Ciudad Constitución crosses the west of the district in a north-south direction.

The Tournavista district is bordered to the south by the District of Puerto Inca , on the west by the districts IRAZOLA and Alexander von Humboldt (both in the province of Padre Abad ) and Campo Verde ( province of Coronel Portillo ), the north by the district Honoria and the east by the district Iparía (also in the Coronel Portillo province).
