The Campoverde district (alternative spelling: Campo Verde district ; campo verde Spanish for "green field") is located in the Coronel Portillo province in the Ucayali region in east-central Peru . The district was established on June 1, 1982. On September 14, 1994, the northern part was split off and has since formed the newly founded Nueva Requena district . The Campoverde district has an area of ​​approximately 1325 km². The 2017 census counted 16,059 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 13,515. The administrative seat of the district is the 193  m high town of Campoverde with 5483 inhabitants (as of 2017). Campoverde is located about 30 km west-southwest of the provincial and regional capital Pucallpa . The national road 18C connects the two cities and continues south-west to Monte Alegre and Aguaytía .

Geographical location

The Campoverde district is located in the west of the Coronel Portillo province. It is located on the western edge of the Amazon basin west of the Río Ucayali . The Río Aguaytía runs along the northern district boundary to the east. Most of the rainforest in the area has been cleared. Various agricultural products are grown.

The Campoverde district borders in the south on the districts Honoria and Tournavista (both in the province of Puerto Inca ), in the west on the districts Alexander von Humboldt , Neshuya and Curimaná (all in the province of Padre Abad ), in the north on the district Nueva Requena as well to the east to the districts of Yarinacocha , Callería and Manantay .
