The Callería district is located in the Coronel Portillo Province in the Ucayali region in east-central Peru . The district was founded on October 13, 1900. The Callería district has an area of ​​11,653 km². The 2017 census counted 149,999 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 136,478. The administrative seat of the district is the 157  m high city of Pucallpa with 144,207 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pucallpa is located on the west bank of the Río Ucayali and is the provincial and regional capital.

Geographical location

The Callería district is located on the western edge of the Amazon basin in the northeast of the Coronel Portillo province. With the exception of the city of Pucallpa, the district lies on the eastern bank of the Río Ucayali. In the east, the district extends over the catchment areas of the Río Abujao , Río Utiquinia and Río Callería . In the northeast of the district is the Sierra del Divisor National Park .

The Callería district is bordered to the south by the Masisea district , to the southwest by the Manantay , Campoverde and Nueva Requena districts , to the northwest by the Padre Márquez and Contamana districts (both in the Ucayali province ), and to the north by the Alto Tapiche district ( Requena province) ) and in the east to the Brazilian state of Acre . There are the administrative districts of Mâncio Lima , Rodrigues Alves and Cruzeiro do Sul .
