history
The original habitat of the Indians was the border area between Peru, Bolivia and Brazil and only became the western part of the new Acre territory through the Treaty of Petrópolis in 1903. The city emerged from a hamlet called Japiim, named after a species of bird. This settlement was within the territory of Colonel Mâncio Lima (1875–1950) belonging Seringal Barão. In 1913 the hamlet was elevated to Vila Japiim and on May 30, 1977 to the self-governing Munizip Município de Mâncio Lima . It is named after the founder, who played an important role in the political formation of the Juruá, as well as in the rebellion of Cruzeiro do Sul. Today's history books describe his role as the Indian murderer and slave driver of the Poyanawas who lived on his property .
City administration
After the local elections in Brazil in 2016, the farmer Isaac de Souza Lima (Isaac Lima) of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), who prevailed with 5,390 votes, is the city prefect (mayor) for the term from 2017 to 2020 . The legislature lies with the Câmara Municipal, the city council or city council, made up of five elected representatives.
With the cities of Cruzeiro do Sul, Marechal Thaumaturgo , Porto Walter and Rodrigues Alves made them from 1989 to 2017, the micro-region Cruzeiro do Sul , in turn, with the micro-region Tarauacá the mesoregion Vale do Juruá forms.
