Assis Brasil , officially Município de Assis Brasil , is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Acre and is located in the border triangle Peru , Bolivia and Brazil.
According to the 2010 census, the small town has 6,072 inhabitants, who are called Assis-Brazilians. The population was calculated based on the IBGE's estimate of July 1, 2019 at 7417 residents. The area is 4972 km², the population density 1.2 people per km². The distance to the capital Rio Branco is 319 km.
Geographical location
The place forms with San Pedro de Bolpebra in Bolivia and Iñapari in Peru the tri-border area Bolivia-Peru-Brazil.
The international bridge Ponte da Integração over the Rio Acre connects with Peru.

history
The place emerged from a rubber tree planted in 1908. In 1958 it was named in honor of Joaquim Francisco de Assis Brasil in Vila de Assis Brasil and received city rights on March 1, 1963.
City administration
In the local elections in Brazil in 2016 , Antonio Barbosa de Sousa, known as “Zum”, of the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) was elected city prefect (mayor) for the term from 2017 to 2020.
