With the villages Acrelândia , Bujari , Plácido de Castro , Porto Acre , Rio Branco and Senador Guimard formed Capixabe to 2017, the micro-region of Rio Branco , which in turn formed with the micro-regions Brasileia and Sena Madureira the mesoregion Vale do Acre .

After the local elections in 2016, José Augusto Gomes da Cunha (Zé Augusto) from the Progressive Party (PP), who replaced his predecessor Otavio Guimaraes Varêda from the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), is city prefect for the 2017-2020 term .
