Brasiléia , officially Município de Brasiléia , is a city in the Brazilian state of Acre , about 200 km southwest of Rio Branco on the Rio Acre on the border with Bolivia , opposite the Bolivian city of Cobija , with which it is connected via the Ponte Binacional Wilson Pinheiro . Brasiléia is located in the Amazon basin at about 280 m above sea level and has a tropical hot and humid climate.
The main branch of the economy is rubber production .
According to the 2010 census, the community has 21,398 inhabitants, who are called Brazilian people. According to the IBGE's estimate of July 1, 2014, the population was calculated to grow to 23,378 residents. The area is 3,916.495 km²; the population density is 5.46 people per km².
Brasiléia was founded in 1910, the name is a creation of the words Brasil ( Brazil ) and hiléia ( forest ).
