Santa Rosa do Purus , officially Município de Santa Rosa do Purus , is a small town in the central region of the Brazilian state of Acre . It is 300 km away from the state capital Rio Branco . The population was estimated at 6540 inhabitants in 2018, who are called Santarosensians. It is a border town with Peru .
geography
The landscape and climate are those of the Amazon rainforest . The area is 6145.612 km² (2016; previously calculated 5981.137 km²), which results in a population density of less than one person per km² (0.8 / Ew. / Km²). It forms a green border with Peru .
The main traffic routes are the rivers, in the more distant Manoel Urbano there is a traffic connection through the diagonal federal road BR-364 . The runway of the Aeroporto de Santa Rosa do Purus (ICAO: SDOE) is located on the Fazenda Sibéria .
history
The place was initially a pier on the Rio Purus, from which the Vila de Santa Rosa do Purus developed. The area belonged to Manoel Urbano and was spun off as an independent Município by Law No. 1028 of April 28, 1992 .
City administration
The municipality forms a single administrative district with Santa Rosa do Purus as its seat. For the executive branch, Francisco de Assis Fernandes da Costa (Assis Moura) by the Partido Republicano Progressista (PRP) was elected city prefect (mayor) in the local elections in 2016 .
